| We looked at the performance rather than just the maintenance aspects of the plant closing the business cycle. There are quite distinct differences between Mobile Equipment and Fixed Plant The objective is to get as much as possible out of existing assets, defining them as value adding to the enterprise output. In embarking on any job, we need to understand the client's business, to ascertain what he wants to achieve. We start with the hygiene aspects of the systems (database population and systems flows) and over time, analyse this data for strategic patterns, and how that may give the client the edge in improving what they do. Our systems have proven to be future proof, adapting to newer technology, changes in operating systems and databases. This means that work flows and intelligence built up over time is readily upgraded. An example of this is the transition from Text to Graphical environments, where there is no code change, just screen reformatting and optional enhancements to take advantage of the new environment. In other systems, complete rewrites are necessary. We use a variety of software tools (trying to pick the best available in each category)
with emphasize on RADD - Rapid Application Development and Deployment, to be
responsive to client demands by minimising programming effort.
